Yes, I used a weird term on purpouse.
But let’s start from the start: 2 weeks ago my pc broke. I brought it to the repairman who was really nice, opened it 2 times to fix it (every time it worked for a bit and then stopped again) and in the end he gave me a “new” one (it’s not actually new, but it’s really good and works just fine).
I spent 130€, which was almost all of my april salary 😀 but in the end, I’m happy.
I actually wanted to spend that money for a new gi but hey, maybe I’ll buy it this month.
There were also promotions at my gym: what was weird is that my instructor ALWAYS promoted me when giving stripes, and every time I really felt I hadn’t got all that better. This time, when I really felt improved (people who tapped me out many times at sparring now don’t or do it very rarely, I tap people, I control people who have been training less than me and so on) he didn’t 😀 first time my technique is actually decent, so I’m thinking about what’s wrong now. I’m really not coming up with anything!
There also were these shots, of a purple belt lady wearing a gi and acting sexy, which raised a bit of concern and discussion. Whenever this happens, my opinion is split.
I would personally be pretty uncomfortable if I was the one depicted (I’m not, so – phew!) and I wouldn’t really like to be associated with this lady behaviour. Let’s just say, even if BJJ makes us a big family, that does not mean we have to be pro-everything in BJJ, from people who apply ankle locks turning on the wrong side to half-naked purple belts in a gi.
Lady can decide to be portrayed with just her belt on, as far as I’m concerned. That’s just HER, she can do whatever she wants with her body image. She is a legitimate purple belt who decided that having people jerking off on her pictures in a gi is fine (yeah yeah tell me about art). Cool, but I need to inform everybody that people can jerk off on actually anything, from playboy cover to my grandma preparing french fries. There are people that are aroused by the fact that a girl just IS a martial artist even if she wears spats and rashguard below her gi 😀 yeah, creeps’ are all around. So I really don’t know.
Is it bad for BJJ community, since she is wearing a gi? I guess we should say the same for every porn actress in a cop or nurse uniform (I’m being hyperbolic, I know, it’s not the same thing but hey, somebody reacted like if it was). I’d really like to know what SHE would answer to people saying she has dishonored BJJ or stuff like that.
Anyway, if u really wanna see what a girl looks like after an intense sparring session, please feel free to enter any academy and I think every girl would be happy to show you we are there to train and not to show our tits.
